OttawaPups Code of Conduct
Our Commitment
OttawaPups is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, respectful, inclusive, and consent-based environment for all community members.
This Code of Conduct applies to:
- All OttawaPups events
- All OttawaPups online spaces
- All interactions connected to OttawaPups, both in person and online
Participation in OttawaPups activities means agreeing to follow this Code of Conduct.
Respect & Inclusion
OttawaPups is an inclusive community. We welcome people of all genders, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, body types, abilities, and experience levels.
Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or exclusionary behaviour will not be tolerated.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, or xenophobia
- Unwanted sexual attention or advances
- Bullying, shaming, or aggressive behaviour
Consent
Consent is mandatory at all times.
- Always ask before touching, interacting, or engaging in any form of play
- Consent must be clear, informed, and enthusiastic
- A “no” is final and never requires an explanation
- Consent can be withdrawn at any time
- Silence, hesitation, or uncertainty do not equal consent
Failure to respect consent will result in immediate action by organizers.
Boundaries & Behaviour
All attendees are expected to:
- Respect personal boundaries
- Follow event-specific rules and guidelines
- Listen to and comply with organizers and volunteers
Behaviour that is disruptive, unsafe, or makes others uncomfortable may result in removal from an event without refund.
Photography, Recording & Privacy
Privacy is essential to community safety.
- Photography or recording is not allowed unless explicitly stated for an event
- Never photograph or record anyone without their clear consent
- Do not share names, images, or personal information of attendees without permission
Violations of privacy may result in removal from the community.
Substance Use
- All local laws and venue rules must be followed
- Excessive intoxication that impacts consent, safety, or behaviour is not permitted
- Organizers may intervene if substance use becomes a concern
Weapons & Prohibited Items
Weapons of any kind are not permitted at OttawaPups events.
Illegal substances or items that compromise safety are strictly prohibited.
Age Requirement
All OttawaPups events and spaces are 18+ only.
Valid government-issued ID may be required for entry.
Reporting Concerns
If you experience or witness behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct:
- Speak to an OttawaPups organizer or volunteer at the event, or
- Contact us through our website or by email
Reports will be taken seriously and handled with discretion.
Enforcement
OttawaPups organizers reserve the right to take appropriate action to protect the community, including:
- Verbal warnings
- Removal from an event
- Temporary or permanent ban from future events
Decisions are made in the interest of community safety and well-being.

OttawaPups exists to foster connection, joy, and community through pup play and social interaction. Respect, consent, and care for one another are what make that possible.
